Paper lanterns

This seems like a fairly easy how-to for making paper lanterns. I think several strands of these would really look pretty between the trees in our backyard. Who wants to help me make these? :D

More centerpiece ideas

Love this idea. Simple, pretty and non-obtrusive.

Ok, I'm not into puffy dresses, but this one is the ultimate fantasy gown. Awesome!

Hairs I Like:

Fabric flowers?

Thinking of trying this DIY fabric flower method. Then I can make the textured, bulky flowers I like, in the colors I want, for my bouquet! I know, most artificial flowers look ridiculous, but I thought these were actually charming and pretty.

MASON JARS!!

Holy crap I want these tiny little mason jars!!!

One of the prettiest table settings I've seen yet:

I've been racking my brain for ideas of favors that are not a waste of money, useless silly baubles that people will throw in their purses and never look at again. I like the following. Charming, muslin bags filled with candy, stocking stuffer type goodies, etc.

Tables!

I love these tables. Since we are not doing a 'sit-down' meal, I want either long buffets or many small tables, but close together, to encourage mingling and a more intimate atmosphere. I LOVE the mixed chairs and casual feel to the simple table settings here.

Awesome guest book idea!

So, these people painted a bare tree on thick canvas and asked guests to stamp their thumbprint on the branches, and also sign next to their prints. Love this idea. I think I know just the person to draw this tree, too...

Book and Coffee themed?!? YES

perfect makeup!

Think I've changed my mind about makeup. My dear friend, Jenny, has offered to do my makeup for me, so I'm thinking a bit more about what I really want, and not just what I can do on my own. Since my dress is so Hollywood glam, I think I wanna mix it up a bit with some rock'n'roll style smokey, sexy eyes.

O.M.G.

I have been reading COUNTLESS numbers if blogs, looking at wedding photos and stealing ideas from all over the internets the last month or so, but this particular wedding is the 'cream of the crop'. Amazing! From the dogs, the vintage cars, the vows written from their favorite book quotes! Wow. And bookmarks a favors?? YES!! Any of you who know me well know that my 'mushy' bone is not often touched, but this wedding tickled it pink. :p

More photos and clothespins. I want these both in the photobooth and for decor outside with photos of Ryan and me. :)

Reception food/ drink/ set-up inspiration:

Love these!

We'll be doing a 'dessert table' rather than an actual cake:

Who wants to make a cute sign like this??

Simple Alter ideas

Like the 'shady' feeling of the alter at left, and like the simple arch of the one below.
Paper lanterns?
Candles in jars?

Oh, and love this idea. Who needs a runner/aisle/fancy chairs? We have trees!

Got my ring tonight!

Ryan re-proposed tonight, with my ring in hand. Yes, he did the traditional on one knee, and it was the sweetest thing ever. So, since everyone has been asking about the ring and when it will appear, I'm posting a pic here. It's a vintage piece and I love it!

Linens

I saw a fantastic idea on one of my favorite wedding blogs to make my own table linens/ napkins using vintage sheets which are cut to size with pinking shears. Seems easy enough, and I prefer the 'eclectic' linen style to generic, formal table linens, but how hard will it be to find the necessary amount of vintage sheets?

Mason Jars!

Centerpieces? Hanging decor? Lining the aisle for the ceremony? Where and how can I use these things? I love mason jars. :)

I need old postcards!!

I need lots of antique/vintage postcards, but they must be blank. They will be used as part of my invitation packets and will eventually become part of our wedding book. :) Can anybody suggest a good place to find these?

Welcome!

So, we created this blog to make communicating with far away friends and family during the planning of the wedding a little easier. There will be lots of inspirational photos, links and bits of ideas posted here. Please feel free to contribute with your own comments and ideas. Also, any questions about the event are welcome. :)

Ryan and I are very excited about planning our wedding and can't wait to see all of you at the party!

Photo and Film theme

In trying to come up with 'theme' ideas that would represent both Ryan and I, I've been loving the idea of using photo and film inspiration. I'm thinking of using clotheslines to hang photos of us, past and present. My sister and I also talked about possibly creating table designs around a photo/film theme somehow. This is a tricky one, so feedback would be great!

Color Theme Inspiration:

Photo booth!

I want a photo booth at the reception. Anybody who knows where I can find Polaroid cameras or film, please let me know. Also, I'll be searching for photo props, large, colorful backdrops and maybe a neat piece of furniture or two. The whole thing should provide fun times during the party and the pictures will be used to build our guest book/ photo album. Here's a little inspiration:

Love the multi-cameras w/ descriptions!
